»Peace it Together« — BrandingBrand Peace it Together, a non-profit organization that empowers youth to promote peace through dialogue, filmmaking, and multimedia, to help boost public awareness and attract both youth participants and financial support. Peace it Together facilitates summer camps where youth from Palestine, Israel, and Canada work together to create short films about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. It was imperative that the identity avoid politically or culturally charged colours and images, translate well to a film clip, and convey the organization’s focus on peace and filmmaking. The new identity was a hit all around, even garnering a donation from Steven Spielberg’s Righteous Persons Foundation.
The dove as a well-known icon for peace, in combination with a film strip, was one of the ideas for the logo. Since I had to avoid any politically charged colours and images, I basically used no additional graphics and just the five primary colours in a random way. So, every time you see parts of the stationery, you have different colour combinations to show the multicultural aspect. The logo – representing Peace it Together – is always black and white to demonstrate the neutrality.
